In this week’s blog I want to share
The 101 guide how to look after long-term ventilated adults& children with tracheostomies at home!
Today, I want to talk about an important aspect when it comes to providing Intensive Home Care nursing services for long-term ventilated adults& children with tracheostomies and that’s the quality aspect!
Standards are extremely important to make a seamless transition from Intensive Care to an Intensive Home Care environment!
Only when proven and third party accredited standards are evident should long-term ventilated adults& children with tracheostomies leave Intensive Care and go home!
This makes perfect sense especially since it’s relatively risky to look after somebody on a ventilator whether at home or in an Intensive Care environment!
We have considered this and have given it some serious thought how INTENSIVE CARE AT HOME can provide a genuine alternative to a long-term stay in Intensive Care!
Quality of life, as well as quality of end of life for long-term ventilated adults& children with tracheostomies can’t be provided in a sterile ICU hospital environment, but can be safely provided in an Intensive Home Care environment if
- Services like INTENSIVE CARE AT HOME have third party accreditation to provide Intensive Home Care https://intensivecareathome.com/accreditationquality/
- Work with proven and evidence based guidelines such as the home mechanical ventilation guidelines https://intensivecareathome.com/mechanical-home-ventilation-guidelines/
This is the proven framework that make INTENSIVE CARE AT HOME services for long-term ventilated adults& children with tracheostomies possible and it improves the quality of life for our Clients and their families.
It also frees up precious, expensive and in-demand Intensive Care beds and other resources that can be used for more acutely unwell Patients that are waiting for an Intensive Care bed.
It therefore reduces the cost from more than $5,000 per bed day for an Intensive Care Patient to less than $3,000 per bed day!
We are therefore reducing the cost by nearly 50% and we are providing a quality service by working with accredited and evidence based guidelines!
